Accessibility Statement
Updated November 5, 2025
Our Goal
We at Upstream Functional Medicine strive to make our website user-friendly and accessible to people of all abilities.
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we adhere to the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), 2.1 and 2.2. These guidelines are the main international standards and outline how to make web content accessible.
The guidelines outline three levels of accessibility; Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Upstream Functional Medicine targets Level AA whenever possible for our website and products.
Our Level AA accessibility compliance allows for assistive technology such as plugins, screen readers, braille displays, and browser extensions to be used by individuals to add additional functionality of their choosing.
Conformance Status
This website conforms with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Accessibility Efforts & Disclaimer
We’re committed to continually improving the accessibility of our website and services. This dedication stems from the belief that fostering a seamless, inclusive, and barrier-free experience for individuals with disabilities is a collective ethical responsibility.
We have worked with Access Designs LLC to obtain a full website audit. They provided us a detailed report of accessibility issues they found and remediated.
We consistently work towards improving the accessibility of every page and material on our website. It’s worth noting that certain content may not have fully met accessibility standards yet. This could be because we’re still in the process of identifying the most effective solutions to enhance the user experience.
We do want to point out that we have several purely decorative images throughout our website. We have worked to ensure those are properly coded and that only important images have alternative text for our users to engage with.
We also have private content behind a membership login page that contains several videos and documents/PDFs. This content has not yet been remediated and will be moved to a new platform in the spring of 2026.
Third-Party Content & Functionality
We sometimes utilize third-party resources to embed content on our website. We strive to work with companies that prioritize digital accessibility, but we ultimately have no control over their software and/or hardware.
We are currently using a Google Maps feature on our website and understand that it may not be fully accessible for users of certain disabilities. We have provided a link directly to directions via Google Maps and if you need further help with directions to our facility please contact us at 319-471-4277.
We have integrations to our social media profiles for Facebook and Instagram on our homepage. We understand these can be difficult to navigate with assistive technology, so we have provided “Skip Links” immediately following the buttons that will take you to those social media platforms.
